CHAINEZ SELLOUM AND FIONA MATA, sitcomes:

They talked about what is a sitcome and gave us some examples.
Examples: Cosby Show(1984), The Twilight (1959-2003), Fresh Prince (1990-1996) with Will Smith, and American Dad, (2005), by Seth MacFarlane.

I really enjoyed their oral presentation becoause their english is really good and they both have a nice accent. The topic was interesting.
ARIADNA COMAS, Neoclassicism, Illustration, Romanticism, Naturalism and Realism:

She compared the evolution of women in a society in these stages with what Jane Austen reflected in the book with the characters. For example, in Illustration's stage women wanted to be a good wife and a good mother , or in Romanticism the feelings are more important than reason , or in Realism, when reality of people have been more reflected.

Her topic was a bit difficult but so interesting, she done a good presentation and a good research work to find out all the information.

Elisenda and Laia Salo, the realtionship between Darcy and Elisabeth:

They described Elisabeth and Darcy and they talked about their first meeting, the second meeting(when he helps her and touch her hand), third meeting(in the ball room), the fourth meeting(in Kent, he shows his feelings to Lizzy), the Fifth meeting(in Pemberley) and the Sexth meeting(in Longbourn).

Arranged marriages(Mr Collins and Charlotte), love at first sight(Bingley and Jane) and hate becomes love (Darcy and Elisabeth). Actually, there is the platonic love. Also they talked about some love films like Definitely, maybe and Love Actually.

Their topic was so nice and romantic and I enjoyed their oral presentation.

Adrià Carmona, types of humour:
Verbal humour (comic adviser, blue humour, bull, epigram, irony)
Physical humour (slpastick, clowning)
And visual humour ( ho show us some funny pictures)

His oral presentation was so funny and he done it so good because he didn't use his notes.

Alejandro Peña, Buenafuente:
Tv channels where he has work: TV3, La cosa nostra; Antena 3, La Sexta. And he also worked in the radio(cope of Reus and Ser)
Buenafuente Shows start with a monologue and we can structure them on different sections.
His favourite section is "El Follnero" and "Bertovision".

He was a little bit nervous but I must say that he done it much better than last year because he didn't red from his notes.

Adrià Alfaro, The Simpsons:
It is a really famous satirical sitcome. Created by Matt Groening in 1989.
the main characters of the sitcome: Homer (stupid and alcoholic), March (the oppostie of Homer, clever), Bart (a great troublemaker), Liza (very intelligent) and Maggie (the baby).

Anna and Miriam, how to be a gentleman like Mr Darcy in our days:

They adapted the behaviour of Mr Darcy to nowadays. They talked about how a gentleman has to be in a dinner. And the politics of a romantic dinner of class. And also they put a video of the rules of dinner.

COMPUTERS HAVE MADE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE

Nowadays computers are present everywhere, and it’s a great question if they have made our world a better place.
I have some arguments for and against computers.

A good point for the computers is that communication between people from all over the world is much simpler (family, friends, business…) in addition information can be easily stored, classified, accessed, transferred…Therefore business can complete contracts much easier without travelling.
What is more, large amounts of information can be stored in a small area, so it means less wasting paper.
Another reason is that school and work projects can be organised and presented clearly.
Additionally you have access to amounts of info and you can study for degrees or certificates on the internet (for example open university).
With the computers we are able to background knowledge on people, finding out if they are legitimate or not.
Finally, you can bank or shop on the internet making life much easier for everyone.

But not all is positive; there are some points against computers. For me the first point against computers is that children advance too quickly and this means a shorter childhood. They have access to information unnecessary and sometimes unsuitable.
Computers kills children imaginations (no more inventive games with cars, dolls…).
Moreover they make people lazy with the on-line shopping and banking.
Another point against computers is that internet is destroying the music and cinema industry because people download.
Another bad point of internet is that it has expanded the pornography industry.
With internet is easy to steal other people work and ideas.
A lot of false information is given and sometimes people do not learn to look up information in encyclopaedias, dictionaries, newspapers…
Finally, if you don’t save your work or information regularly if the computer crashes or there is a virus you lose everything.

COMPOSITION

IS HUMOUR NECESSARY TO SURVIVE??

Nowadays humour is present everywhere you can imagine.
Laughing and having some fun has been always an important fact in human society.
But we must take into account that depending on the culture or the time period humour has been restricted.

I think that it’s really necessary for each person to have a little bit of sense of humour and enjoy the daily things. If something bad happens we must make it easy and don’t bother, we must search the funny part of bad things to cheer up!!
Of course, it doesn’t mean that we have to laugh everywhere and for all the things or sad events.

Humour makes our lives a little bit happier and agreeable: we laugh with friends, in some moments of a class, during a conversation with an unknown person, during a dinner, with family…and with the new medias we can laugh watching TV, listening to the radio, in front of the computer…nowadays it’s easy to have fun if you want.

But humour is good in moderation; I hate those programmes in which people laugh at disabled or physically handicapped persons, or those which incite and foment ignorance and vulgarity.

Some of my friends tell me that I’m a little bit strange because I don’t like Buenafuente, Vinagre, Polonia,…or some programmes like those, I think they are quite stupid, not funny.
But on the other hand, I love comedy sitcoms, programmes like El Hormiguero, Camerà Cafè…well, everyone has his own tastes for humour, or music, clothes…isn’t it?

So, in conclusion, for me humour is really important, maybe it’s not necessary to survive (for some people) but as I said, it makes our lives a little bit happier and agreeable.

SHORT JOKES

The activity of the jokes at class was quite funy. There were some jokes that were quite funny.
My joke was:

A man goes to the doctor and says "Doctor ,doctor, I feel that when I speak no one listen to me"
and the doctor says "OK, next please!!"

I wanted to tell this joke:

A man goes to the doctor and says, "Doctor, wherever I touch, it hurts." The doctor asks, "What do you mean?" The man says, "When I touch my shoulder, it really hurts. If I touch my knee - OUCH! When I touch my forehead, it really, really hurts." The doctor says, "I know what's wrong with you - you've broken your finger!"

But someone told it before I could.

LET'S START 2n BTX!!!

Hi!!!

So, let's start a new academic year: 2n BTX.

This year will be harder than the last one and we will have to work so much.

For me this summer has been fantastic. I've done a lot of things.
I've been working in the sailing school of Palamós and then in the sailing school of St Pere, I've met my friends from BCN, a lot of party, ... and the best thing I've done this summer is to go to the Youth European Championship of the "europe class" (the boat that I usually sail). The championship was in Italy (Como Lake) and it was fantastic. Moreover some of my sailor friends went there with me, so , you can imagine, we had a great time there.

After this fantastic summer I've done some resolutions for 2nd BTX:

- I'm going improve my marks because I want to do INEFC and I need a 7,15.
- I'm going to study even at the weekends , including those in wich I have competition.
- I'm going to work hard with the research work.
- ¡¡Pay attention at class!!
- ...

And...I'm gonna find the best way to combine studies with fun.

I see this year like a bridge between two stages of my live, and I hope that I will pass 2nd BTX and get good memories from it.

FINAL AUTOEVALUATION

        • Observing your portfolio, can you see an improvement on your level of Enlish since September 2007? Where, for example?

Yes, of course! doing the blog you can imrove a lot your writting because you must think a topic and then a good way to explain what you want to say. I think that I have improved my english level because my writings are better, my oral presentations too, the book that I red was quite difficult but I learned a lot...

        • Which activity best shows your level of English?

I think that the oral presentations and the oral exams with Anikka are the best way to see our english level, but the writings are really important too.

        • Which activities were really useful for you to improve your English? Why?

In my opinion, the best activities to learn englis are the activities that we can do in the language room like watch a film in english or read a book. The films are really good because you can see your pronuntiation faults.

        • Which activities did you not find useful to learn English?

All the activities were good to learn, some of them were more funny .

        • Which activities did you enjoy doing and would like to do again next year?

The oral presentations, watch films, read more books, and....I think that the exam of the book it's better if it is oral than if mus must answer some questions in a paper.

        • IDEAS FOR THE NEXT YEAR:

I think that it could be fantastic if the next year we do a travel to England o Ireland for one week = ) We would learn a lot!!!

A good film: MILLION DOLLAR BABY

Million dolar baby is a really good film, there are a lot of good actors such as Morgan Freeman and Hiary Swang. tha film is about a woman who love to practice boxing. She reallu trains a lot but she doesn't find a trainer who wants to introduce her to the competition world.
I mus say that the film is quite sad but I really enjoyed it, I felt exited meanwhile I was watching it.

It's a film that I recomend you if you havn't seen it.

        OPINION ESSAY

WE HAVE ALMOST LEARNT TO RSPECT OUR WORLD. DO YOU AGREE?

People today don’t respect the environment so much, but every day there’s more people taking conscience about the problem.

Nowadays we are just starting to see the bad consequences of all the pollution we have done during years and years, and, the high level of destruction of the nature we’ve done.
Every years we have less forests in our planet, less rivers without pollution, less wild animals…

Luckily, we are starting to take conscience about all this and we are starting to respect a little bit more our nice world.

Now, people recycle more and the governments are starting new projects to fight against the pollution.

So, we are starting to respect our world, it’s a difficult way to go…but we can do it!!

        1r BTX B

        OPINION ESSAY

TOO MUCH IMPORTACE IS GIVEN TO TAKING EXAMS AT SCHOOL. DO YOU AGREE??

In my opinion exams are really important, but maybe it’s true that we give them too much importance.
Maybe, the daily work and the homework that you can do with a support are more important than the exams. If you do your homework thinking about what you are doing, you learn more than if you only study for one exam and then you forget it.

I think that maybe it would be better to do a “big work” in every subject, of course not as big as our research work.

A pupils council would be a really good project to improve some things of the education, but their responsibility… maybe is too much responsibility for a young group of pupils.

We have to mention that every child is different and each pupil needs a different attention and have different ways to study.

For example, now we are doing an English exam and…yes, of course it’s important to know the passives, the present perfect and all the grammar...but I think that maybe we could learn more doing more readings, listenings, writings…
And, the activities of class are OK, but I would prefer to learn English watching more original versions of films, writing the lyrics of the songs, reading books…

With the other subjects, like catalan or economy, it’s the same, the work in class teachs you more than one exam.

But, of course, a lot of people disagree with me, so…maybe the exams are the easiest solution to evaluate the pupils.

        THE HISTORY OF MY HOBBIE

The "Moth" appeared in Europe in the 1930´s.
The French Federation called for an Architect's submission in 1963 to monotype the "Moth". Alois Roland from Belgium sent drawings of the modificated boat and won the submission. He called his boat the "EUROPE".Very soon the French and Belgian Federations recognized the monotype and Alois Roland started the construction.
The Belgian Europe Class is very active in the very first years and champions like Paul Maes, P. Van Genabeek, Van Godtsenhoeven, François de Harlez, J.P. Bernard for Belgium and Bartoli, M. Lambot, Stafler, Cospen Demoulin, Hervey and Devillers for France are the first ones to write their names in the Honour Role. Daniel Bertels starts to organize ladies' regattas, the first step for that Olympic Class for ladies. Alois Roland's company bankrupted and since M. Cristalli produces the wooden boats.
The International Europe Class Union was founded in 1963 to represent interests of Europe dinghy sailors worldwide.
In 1976 the ISAF granted the Europe dinghy International status. In 1988 the IECU applied to the ISAF for Olympic candidacy of the International Europe dinghy.
In 1989 the Europe dinghy was chosen as the single handed Olympic Class for ladies. The Europe dinghy is ideal for a large number of sailors, in our 2000 Class statistics we can read that the range of weight and height are the following for:WEIGHT HEIGHTMEN from 62 to 75 kg. (TOP TEN: 65 to 75 kg.) 1,68 to 1,85 m. (TOP TEN: 1,68 to 1,85 m.)WOMEN from 52 to 70 kg. (TOP TEN: 60 to 70 kg.) 1,56 to 1,78 m. (TOP TEN: 1,63 to 1,78 m.)Important features of the

International Europe Dinghy are the excellent trimming facilities which make it a practical possibility to adjust the boat to the sailor's height, weight and experience. The mast and the sail can be selected and adjusted to suit the sailor and enable fair competition and ease of handling without the use of harmful means of compensation such as weight jackets.
Young lady sailors enjoy the Europe dinghy because they can control and race the boat even in strong wind and waves.
The Europe dinghy is very easy to transport. The hull weights only 45 kg. and with a length under 3,4 m. permits to load the boat on the roof of a car.The Europe dinghy is built under ISAF Licence nevertheless sailors may build their own boats. In the last fourty years the Europe dinghy has increased in quality as a fast attractive racing dinghy. The Class is firmly determined to grow through further geographic expansion.

        a nice film to see

        Kate & Leopold

Kate & Leopold is a beautiful love story about a woman who lives in 2001 and a duke of the 1876. The film is a romantic comedy, I think it’s so funny.
The story happens in New York. Kate McKay is a modern executive, a young woman of the 21st century. She works a lot and her aspirations are high. Leopold is the Duke of Albany, he hasn’t wife but his uncle wanted marry him with a rich woman.
When they know each other better, they fell in love , but they have some arguments about the integrity of the people.
Finally Kate was promoted, but when she know that Leopold was in the 19th century she immediately runed to the Brooklyn Bridge and she stayed there with Leopold. They get married and Leopold was the inventor of the elevator.
The lovers can be together because Stuart and Charlie, the young brother of Kate, help them. They are two important characters in the film because Kate and Leopold met each other because of Stuart. And Charlie helped Leopold to conquest Kate.

        composition

What do you prefer: Friends or family?

This is a very good question. The answer for this is a very important decision. All teenagers who want to leave home have to do themselves this question, but most of them want to live with their friends. Who not? But lots of them aren’t consensus about the problems of share a flat.

If you are in a flat with your friends, you have to pay for everything: water, electricity, food… Also you have to share the housework and sometimes you argue with your friends for it. You haven’t got privacy as well. Although, friends can be interfering, jealous and competitive, and that’s a big problem.
But this problems can be solved by your friends too. A friend is someone who will always back you, he is someone you can depend on… In my opinion, share a flat is a true challenge, a challenge that can teach you an important lesson.
But if you want a easy life you must live with you parents. You won’t pay for anything, you only have to do some housework to become happy your parents. But you have to accept their rules, and you are not free. You also haven’t any privacy.

For me, I think that he best thing you can do, is share a flat with your friends while you are studying. Then, when you finish your studies and you are working, you can rent a flat until you can buy it. You can also share a flat with you girlfriend. In fact, you have to think about it, and choose the best option for your life.

        JULIA's description

Julia is one of my best friends. She is a girl from Cerdanyola that does sailing competition with me. She is 15 years old, but she looks older.

First, I'm gonna describe her phisicaly. Julia is a really pretty girl, she is tall and thin, like a model. I love her long, curly and blond hair. She has a small nose and big brown eyes.

she allways says that people see her like a girl, I think that's not true, and in my opinion, in one or two years she wil stop to think this.

She has a really special caracther, I think that she is a fantastic person and a really funny friend.

But I must say that sometimes she has really bad tempered.

        Dear madam,

We are writing to you because this is our 6th year in this village and we have some ideas to improve the welfare state of Vilasacra.
First of all we think that the public transport is not so good and it’s necessary to give a better service by increasing the number of buses.
Secondly, we have seen that in Summer there aren’t enough activities to do and a public swimming pool could be a perfect idea for children and adults.
In our opinion , the village is quite comfortable and well coming, but maybe it needs to be lively by organising some weekend activities.

Thank you for your attention , and we hope that you think about our ideas.

        Yours faithtfully,

        MARINA SARQUELLA & ADRIÀ CARMONA

        FIRST COMPOSITION

        ME

The compositions about ourselves are the most difficult compositions, I never know how to start them because there are a lot of things to explain about us: character, our appearance…

I’m a normal teenager with a normal family. I live in St Pere Pescador with my parents and my young brother, he’s ten years old. I really enjoy to play with him, we are very different people but at the same time really similar. He always tell me that in summer I’m not the same person that in winter. This is really true.
This is because in summer I do what I want: I’m sailing all the day.
Sailing is my favourite hobby and my live, when you sail you forget all the stupid and superficial things, there’s you and your boat, nothing else.
I think that those are the best moments on your live.

I really love to do sport, and if I can do it with friends it’s much better. I met my best friends doing competition. I’m not so competitive, but I love to do races.
Sometimes I’m a really lazy person, but when I do something I like to do it.

At school I really like to stay with my friends in our free time, but this year will be very different because some of our friends have left the school.
I like to study but as I said I’m a little bit lazy, this year we have to study more than the last year and this it’s what I’d like to do: improve my marks and have fun with my friends.

In a future I would like to study INEFC in Barcelona or in Lleida, I don’t know yet. But I’m sure that I want to do it. It’s a real interesting career, you can do a lot of different jobs when you finish: a gym director, a teacher in a high school, you can be an specialist in some sports…
I’d like to have a sailing school or something like this…I really don’t know.

Well, I think that I’m a practical person, and sometimes so shy, a little bit absent-minded and forgetful.

This is more or less how I am.
